  • SCORG & Simerics-Turbo at the London’s Compressors Conference

PDM Analysis Ltd, Simerics Inc. and 80/20 Engineering will host a booth at the 9th International Conference on Compressors and their Systems, organized by City University London on September 7th -9th, 2015 at The Mermaid Conference Centre, Puddle Dock, Blackfriars, EC4V 3DB, London, United Kingdom.

This renowned conference is featuring participation by research organisations, developers, manufacturers, equipment suppliers of compressors, expanders, pumps and their systems. This biennial meeting provides a forum where developments, market challenges and opportunities in air, gas and refrigeration sectors will be presented for discussion.

The booth will highlight the combined capability of the newly released SCORG™ and Simerics-Turbo for the design and virtual testing of screw compressors, turbo-pumps and motors. The seamless link between the two provides a highly effective tool for designing and optimizing turbomachinery components.

Simerics Inc., is the creator of the  CAE software tools Simerics-Turbo, Simerics-Valve, and PumpLinx® for the virtual simulation and testing of a full range of fluid pumps, valves, compressors, motors, and systems.

PDM Analysis Ltd, develops, markets and supports SCORG™, a unique software for the design and analysis of positive displacement screw compressors, pumps and motors.

80/20 Engineering, headquartered in the UK, has  a global focus on providing ‘best in class’ design based simulation solutions, quality technical support and consultative analysis services and is a distributor of the Simerics CFD tools including  PumpLinx® and Simerics-Turbo and the PDM Analysis Ltd design software SCORG™, providing training and support for all packages.

Simerics-Turbo is a 3-D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool that provides accurate virtual testing for the analysis and performance prediction of turbomachinery and complete fluid systems with rotating/sliding components. For liquid systems, Simerics-Turbo’s proprietary Cavitation Module accurately models vapor, free gas and liquid compressibility to enable the analysis of performance, pressure ripple, and cavitation damage.

SCORG™ is specialized software for the grid generation, design and analysis of screw compressors, pumps and motors. It offers unique capability to evaluate the performance and operation of these machines by use of Computational Fluid Dynamics or Thermodynamic Multi Chamber Model. SCORG™ is designed to minimize efforts and maximize efficiency of the design process by enabling geometry analysis, preliminary thermodynamic evaluation and grid generation of the large number of positive displacement rotary machines with multiple rotor arrangements.

  • Simerics collaborates with CCEFP

Simerics Inc. is proud to collaborate with the Compact Center for Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP) in the application of PumpLinx® for fundamental R&D within key CCEFP University Research Centers. Most recently, PhD student Sujan Dhar (now employed full-time as an Project Engineer at Simerics Inc) under the guidance of Andrea Vacca, Assistant Professor at the MAHA Fluid Power Research Center at Purdue University, used PumpLinx for simulating heat transfer in gerotor pumps. A summary of this effort is available under the white papers under the title: “Thermal coupling of PumpLinx and HYGESim toward an accurate thermoelastohydrodynamic lubricating interface model of external gear machines.”
