Simerics Webinar Series 2023 – Multiphase Volume of Fluid VOF Applications using Simerics

This is the recording of the second webinar on Multiphase Volume of Fluid VOF Applications using Simerics on the Webinar Series 2023. This video is divided into 3 parts.

The first part goes through introduction of Simerics, the features of Simerics application like the type of meshing, benefits of its template driven workflow and so on. The advantages of Simerics’ covers the challenges involved in simulating the Volume of Fluid applications and how Simerics offers solutions to those challenges.

In the second part, we go through a demo process of a fuel tank sloshing using Simerics-MP+ and demonstrate the ease with which the simulation can be set up and how quickly the simulation results can be obtained and post-processed. A customer validation case aligned with fuel tank sloshing simulation is also showcased through this demo. By this, we also try to understand the validation results of our software versus the customer’s prototype.

The third part of the video runs through the engineering benefits involved in using the Volume of Fluid approach in real world applications through a couple of customer case studies. The ability of the software to understand the oil distribution, predict the transient and steady state temperature on crucial heat source components on an electric motor is covered. Similarly, we explore the crankcase oil drawdown and oil ejection case study simulation and understand the design challenges involved due to air-oil mixture in the system.
