AXIAL PUMP

Axial Pump Design:

Rotating pump blades are used to increase the velocity of the fluid along the direction of the axis of the rotation. The increase of kinetic energy may be used directly for propulsion or else converted to pressure rise using downstream stators.

Advantages:

Ability to pump large volumes of fluid.

Application:

Fluid transfer, Propulsion.

Axial pump Cavitation

PumpLinx: Solve Flows, Pressures, Cavitation, and Loads:

Discriminators:

  • Models cavitation
  • Accurate tip leakage
  • Superior treatment of rotating-stationary interfaces
  • Ease-of-use
  • Fast turn-around

Design Issues/Benefits:

  • Stator and rotor design
  • Inlet/exit duct design
  • Tip/seal leakage analysis
  • Optimize performance
  • Reduce blade loads
  • Reduce cavitation effects on efficiency and pump life
